About LalitaLalita Noronha-Blob is a research scientist, teacher and writer from India. Recipient of a Fulbright travel grant to the U.S., she earned her Ph.D. in Microbiology from St. Louis University Medical School, St. Louis, MO., an M.S. in Genetics (Univ. of Bombay) and a BS in Botany (Univ. of Baroda, India.) Prior to teaching, she worked at the National Institutes of Health and in the biopharmaceutical industry, and published over 100 research papers and abstracts in scientific journals. She has also co-authored “Journey through Exploration” an interdisciplinary work book based on Jurassic Park. Lalita loves writing. Her poetry and prose have been published in many newspapers, literary magazines, and anthologies. Major awards and honors include the Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award for Fiction, 2002; the Maryland Literary Arts Award for Short Story twice—in 1997 (Where Monsoons Cry) and in 2001 (Short Short Stories, The Best of Artscape) and the Dorothy Daniels Award of the National League of American Pen Women (1998.) Lalita lives in Baltimore, where she is a fiction editor for The Baltimore Review, and a science teacher at St. Paul’s School for Girls
